Hi ,

we have a 4 1/2 month old boy thats on 7 ounces every 4 hrs. Hes a big boy 18lb but long (70cm).
He goes to bed at 7pm and we dream feed at 10pm.
He has recently started chatting at 2/3/4 in the morning. Hes not hungry at this time either.

Is this a sign that we need to start him on rice or should we stop him from having his afternoon sleep(not easy)

Current advice is that you should start weaning at 6 months. IME, sometimes babies just change their routine a bit. If he seems satisfied on the milk then I shouldn't think he would need to be weaned just yet.

ds changes his routine as often as i change my knickers!
eg,for weeks he would not go to sleep if i put him to bed 1 min before 7.30, the last 3 days he has gone to bed at 6.30, and woken at 7.30 for a feed.
If he is not hungrey then i would not worry, he will soon get fed up if nobody wants to play.

IT is probably just a phase a bit of change in routine. I think he is a bit young to be cutting out sleeps he is still a sleep when he wants kind of age, if he is not hungry at that time then it does not sound like he is needing any solids yet.

Lilltepig my DD was like that exactly and I just ewnt with it, used to think it was hilarious though that if I put her down at 7.25 she would not be happy but at 7.30on the dot she went to sleep.
