ds is 6.5m. ebf and introduced solids at 6m by means of blw. he eats an insane amount of food for a baby his age i think. he doesn't gag/tongue thrust and swallows huge bits of food. whilst i am in awe of his eating skills i am just a bit concerned he is eating too much. he still bf a fair amount too. he gets very excited at meal times and he just eats and eats until there is nothing left!
dc1 did blw too but was not anything like this.
i always bf 10mins before a meal too. i am amazed by the amount of food he eats and the way he eats it. he crams food in his mouth and shovels it down with his fingers. i cannot believe some of the things he swallows. he is a big boy but has been since birth.
can they over eat at this age??? do i just leave him to it?

Mine eats like that too (always has) and I worried and stressed about him being too heavy. But as everyone told me it would, the weight dropped off once he got mobile. (or at least he is growing into it).
I think provided you are giving him a good range of foods and water it evens out.

I wouldn't worry as long as what you give him is healthy. My lo was a massive eater at that age. If I ever felt she was getting a bit tubby I'd offer less carby meals but generally she knew what she needed.

thanks.
its not so much that i think he is getting tubby (he always has been lol)Grin
i just can't get my head around the amount he eats for his age. my dd would barely look at food at that age where he is just insane.
did either of you worry about choking?? i have been there and done the whole blw thing before so know the difference between gagging/choking etc but i worry as he swallows such large bits of food!

I worried and sometimes he used his fingers to ram down whole boiled carrots - but he never choked. I tend to offer large items of food (whole egg, slice of bread, whole rice cake etc) as he will always ram it all in his mouth rather than bite off a bit. At 6 months I didn't give too much hard stuff but it I did it was in small pieces as he had no teeth.
