Currently 7 month old will only consume the sweetest fruit purees. I started him out on home made purees like sweet potato, which he loved but wouldn't go further with others veggies like parsnip, peas etc. In desperation I gave him some ready made fruit purees (was also finding it hard to find the time making lots of batches he hates) and he goes absolutely nuts for them! Now he won't touch anything else!

Does this fade eventually as their taste buds mature?? I tried blending ready made fruit puree with home made veggies but it wasn't successful.

I wish I'd never introduced the stuff to him! Also tried introducing more veg via BLW but no success there either, although he will try fruit that way.

Mine was the same really. I bought one of those make your own pouches thingys and got around it that way... If it came in a pouch he'd eat anything

How old is your Lo lost? If he's under one his main source of nutrition should be his milk, so its fine if he doesn't want to eat. Its your job to provide a variety of solids, same as everyone else is eating if that helps, and its up to him if he chooses to eat it Smile

Just out of interest, what do you do when he refuses any food you offer?

Lostinspace1 · 21/08/2014 07:40

Hi, thanks, if he refuses food its usually because it isn't sweet enough so thats when I whip out a fruit pouch and he reliably gobbles it down.

I guess given his age it really doesn't matter at this stage. Just thought/hoped weaning might involve greater diversity....

It's easy really isn't it. Just stop offering them. He can have milk + other solids ok he might not eat much solids for a day or so but he will soon forget about them.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/08/2014 09:47

Ok so if someone put some strange food in front of you and asked you to eat it and you knew that if you complained, your favourite meal would be put in front of you to enjoy, would you bother trying the first course?

Milk is what should be filling him up so if he refuses food. Clear away when you've finished eating and do something else. Never, ever offer an alternative! Smile

OK thanks! Some firm advice which I probably needed!

Exactly what others have said. Stop them. If he goes back to only having milk for a few days/weeks, at 7 months that won't hurt.
