did you just change from formula to cows milk all at once; or start with just one feed at a time; and have you changed from giving milk from a cup instead of a bottle?? Im being quite causious as my LO is now 12months has just started nursery 3xweek & I dont want to introduce too many changes.

I just gradually decreased the amount of formula by 1 fl.oz at a time, replacing it with cows milk. Then after a few days decrease by another fl.oz etc etc

so did you mix the cows milk with the formula? or give the cows milk in a separate bottle??

just add the cows milk to the formula, that way the change in taste is a gradual one over a couple of weeks.
Worked fine and they didn't notice the change.

I have not tried it myself but read that you should start by changing one complete feed at a time, usually early morning (to have time to check for any allergic reactions) and to change one every week until on cow's milk completely.

The reason not to mix apparently is to be sure that lo is not having a reaction. They can have a reaction sometimes if the milk is mixed with formula. The second reason was that they get used to the taste of milk straight away.

I did it by changing 1 bottle at a time to cows milk. DD only had 2 per day by the age of 1, so I changed the morning bottle to cows milk first and left the evening one as formula. When I saw she was ok with that, I changed the evening one to cows milk too. TBH she didnt seem to notice the difference.

re: the cup. I didnt change both bottle and milk at the same time. Once dd was ok on cows milk I started offering the morning milk in a lidded beaker (Tommee Tippee first cup )along with breakfast and left the evening milk in a bottle. Once she was taking more than a couple of sips from the beaker I switched the evening bottle for a beaker too. She was off bottles and completely onto cups by around 14/15 months.
