Almost 7months and weaning, got some raspberries and strawberries
Do I have to stew them or anything? Pls don't laugh, shall I just mash them up a bit?
What fruit is easily mashed up by the way, obv. Banana I know :)

Just pop them down in front of her and let her have a go at getting them into her mouth by herself! Raspberries probably easier as they'll be squishier.

OddFodd · 01/07/2014 19:46

Put them on the highchair. Don't give her whole blueberries, cut them in half

Spindelina · 01/07/2014 19:53

...or just squish the blueberries a bit with your fingers as you pass them over.

Raspberries weren't liked here - too squishy to be picked up easily.

If you put pressure on a banana from the top and bottom of a piece about a fingers length it will split into 3 segments and won't be slippy to hold. Cut strawberries into quarters maybe? Good pincer grip practice.

Things like avocado and mango can be mushed nicely and give a bit of a range of flavours.

My DD's absolute favourite thing in the world is grabbing a big strawberry, rotating it again and again in her pudgy little hand, then attacking it with her gums and teeth. I give them to her whole, with greenery, and in a couple of mins all that remains is a soggy stalk with a couple of red entrails attached. IMO a strawberry is a perfect baby/blw treat. She growls while she eats it like a tiger with a fresh kill.
I think cut up strawberries are too small and fiddly, raspberries ditto.

I also mush them with a fork roughly and mix into yoghurt, cream cheese, baby porridge etc to give it flavour and get something other than strawberries into her stomach.

kiki good grief, that just sounds too cute! Grin

agree with the throw them on the highchair approach. Good for their fine motor skills, I reckon!

I found making the hole in the hull of the strawberry a bit bigger with my thumb gave my DTs a bit of a better grip.

It really is bean! Sometimes I'm so cuted out that I leak a bit of milk watching her. Peach is the other one- take a bite out of a peach (flat or round) to give her a headstart then sit back and watch baby heaven.
