Food cooked in alcohol?

Hi all,

I'm making supper later & was going to put some aside for DD, but the recipe calls for wine to be added. Will it be ok to use or should I omit it from the recipe?

i imagine the alcohol itself will be burnt off during the cooking process and therefore it would be fine.

It's fine. The cooking sorts out the alcohol.

You can get cooking wine though if you really don't want to use normal.

The cooking takes out most of the alcohol if it is simmered for a long time - say a an hour or two. Something that is only cooked for 20 minutes, most of the alcohol will remain. Up to you to decide if length of cooking and amount of wine used makes it unsuitable.
