So ds is a good eater, has things blended just a little or chopped up small but generally things with sauce. he eats things that we have like stir fry and spag bol and risotto. tomorrow am making some mac and cheese and shepherd pie to portion and freeze as im off while he's at nursery.

any other ideas welcomed.
also when he has a snack is an orange and fromage frais or crackers and spready cheese ok?

My DS likes

Soup
Wraps with almost anything
Meatballs
Enchiladas
Sausages and mash
Fish FIngers and mash or rice
Chicken with rice and peas
Lasagne
Spaghetti Bolognese
Pasta pesto with chicken or chorizo
Mini burgers
Chicken Goujons
Tuna mayo and jacket potato

His favourite is a "picnic" where i give him a selection (usually some pasta, strips of chicken, cocktail sausages, sliced cheese etc).

thank you! should probably have mentioned he's a complete monkey when it comes to finger food, he just chucks it all overboard in the hopes the dog will come scuttling over however, the dog has learnt how much he gets told off by me if he so much as inches close so I just end up with a pile of floor food.
some good recipes to add into my repertoire there thank you Smile

Nouse - I am in exactly the same boat! DS may end up living off purées forever.

Fish pie is good, freezes well too? I make Jamie Oliver Fantastic fish pie.

you can freeze small pots of mash potatoes separately so you can just freeze the meat and sauce part of things like shepherd's pie and fish pie without the potatoes - it makes it a lot easier to defrost and reheat because you can stir as much as you like! I doubt he will care that it is not in pie form and does not have a crispy top!

I also did chicken curry, veggi curry and goulash for DD1. Both the curries were served with rice or cous cous and the goulash I did with one of my many pots of mash pot.

If only I was so organised with DD2!!!

Anything really.

Fish and veg
Spicy chicken and rice
Lamb curry
Butternut risotto

However all food just same as ours, and gets served on plate and given like that. No blending/ cutting. Just give spoon/ fork and they eat as much or little as they wanted.

do I have to be careful when it comes to curries? im making korma for tea which I assume will be ok for him? but spicier things like biryani and chilli should he avoid?

thanks for the ideas guys, hes good at eating what we do most nights but days like sunday we have chicken salad and I know he wouldn't eat it so now I can have some different ideas other than purees or jars.

he'll soon let you know if it too spicy! DD1 used to be able to cope with quite spicy things at 1 yr old and I'd just add natural yoghurt to her portion. Now she is 3.5 yrs she can detect the smallest amount of chilli in any dish and moans about it being too spicy!

A mild chilli or biryani sound perfect. Kedgeree and paella both go down very well in our house if he like rice.

We now make everything mild and DH and I scatter dried chilli flakes on ours!

Artandco · 18/06/2014 09:22

I usually just make spicy as we want and add natural yogurt to theirs if needed

At that age they would eat most elements of chicken salad but maybe not all, I would just give them parts they liked plus a small piece of what they didn't to try. So they would eat chicken, avocado, spinach, pine nuts, cucumber. They didn't like say tomato and olives so I would just give a tiny piece if each to try
