windy vegetables

I really hope someone can help with this. We've been weaning DD for a few weeks and have gone back to basics as we thought she may have been reacting badly to root vegetables. Some of the time she gets very upset and starts growling/grunting or will suddenly cry out as if in pain. It seems to happen when she's had sweet potato/swede/carrot. Yet I can find nothing on the internet to suggest that they would cause a problem, just that they are ideal first baby foods. It all seems like a mine field to me. Is she windy or intolerant of root veg. or hungry for more milk or none of these things?
Any ideas?
Thanks Dawnxx

Is she bf or on formula?

I just put my son on formula and I find he can be very windy after a bottle. Secondly your gas causeing veg are usually cauliflower, broccoli etc. It is strange. How much is she eating?

She's on formula but has never really had wind problems with milk. She's also having very small amounts - just an ice cube size amount of puree along with some baby rice. She has seemed fine on days when she has had only rice, fruit and green veg (courgette and green bean). The problems re-emerged today about 2 or 3 hours after she had the swede.
