Do I need to worry about iron for my 6 m BF ds?

That's it really.
Hes over 6 months and breast fed, and taking 2 meals a day(plus assorted finger foods.) So far he's having porridge made with cows milk for breakfast, and fruit and veg the rest of the time.
Should I be giving him a suppliment (and if so what?)or trying to include more iron rich stuff in his diet, or just stop worrying?

Please stop worrying! Your ds is already eating a variety of food, and bf has a lot of nutrients in it. Is it 7 months when you're supposed to start meat?

as belgo says once you stsrt making some nice stews for him this winter theres iron in that, have u any childrens recipe books ? they detail what nutrients are in what - try your local library if u havent.

I really want to hold of on the meat for as long as possible (I'm vegetarian, and don't want to give him food I can't taste yet)

I still don't believe that babies need the added vitamins and iron. I feel that as I am eating a balanced diet then some of those nutrients are going into my breastmilk and that therefore, even though DS isn't eating a huge amount of solid food atm, that he's getting enough. Man has survived for thousands of years without all the additives so what's so different now?

mine doesn't I just give him veggies I know have iron in. Vits from foods prob far better for your LO than any supplements

Thanks, I'll just keep going with green veg, and try not to worry. I don't know why its bothering me this time round, I have 2 healthy dds who didn't eat meat for a year, or get suppliments.
