Weaning 3rd time around

It's a bit different as this time I'm doing baby led weaning and the previous two times it was all puree's but I can't help but feel that at 61/2 months DC3 is getting crap already and I feel guilty.
The first one it was all organic fruit and veg, by the second one it was still purely fruit and veg just not organic but this time although she's getting batons of veg and fruit she's also had chips, garlic bread and ice cream. When I say had I don't know how much she's actually getting of these things but does seem to be she manages to eat more of these than the veg or weetabix!
Has anyone else found this after weaning a couple of times.

I only had 2 kids but number 2 definitely had lots more rubbish food at a younger age than number 1. I found it impossible not to give no. 2 most of what no 1 had. If your older kids are quite a bit older, I'd imagine the problem gets harder and harder.

I did the organic thing with no 1 too! But the only thing you've given her that I count as 'bad' is the ice cream. I don't think there's anything wrong with a few chips or garlic bread, babies need fats, as long as it's not too salty.

It was exactly the same for me - first had puréed fruits & veg from the local organic shop, 2nd had some organic but all supermarket - 3rd was blw and just had to fit in with us..... With my first, I used to spend all weekend making her food to freeze including making the stock! (Baby stock cubes weren't available then) !!

Pleased it's not just me!
When I say ice cream she didn't get a full bowl, she just nearly put her neck out trying to get to my pistachio magnum. She loved it, which isn't surprising as I love pistachios so probably getting good dose from my breast milk. My oldest child never got anything sweet until he was about 2 (I'm a dentist so was so strict but seems to have passed a bit, with exception of haribo's)

Yep just weaned my third and he gets stuff I would never have given my first! However I think because I'm more relaxed about the whole thing he is doing so well with food. He is 8 months and will eat absolutely anything! Found my three year old sharing an ice lolly with him the other day!
Like you I did purées with the last two but with him I puréed for the first couple of weeks then mashed with a fork within 4 weeks he was eating chopped food and having three meals a day. It was much slower with my first two. I just think as long as they are eating all the healthy stuff the odd thing that's not so good is not the end of the world. :)

Ds2 is doing ok from what I feed him, but his brother on the other hand has less scruples and has been helping him to taste chocolate, ice cream and various types of biscuit - and he's still just 23 weeks

bad mother
