ive been trying to get DS to drink from a beaker from about 7 months, ive baught all diferent types soft spouts hard spouts freeflow, ive recently tried straw cups but he will take one sip and look horrified, after that every time I put the beaker near him he wont have it near him and will get frustrated if I keep trying.. my health vis keeps stressing the importance of him being off a bottle by the time hes 1 but nothing seems to work! any suggestions? ive tried a doidy cup also but no luck with that either

Just keep offering. One sip today, two sips next week, keep cup for water at the mo

I know the advice is off bottles by 12 months but if you are scrupulous about teeth cleaning after final bottle before bed, and don t let little man sleep with the teat during the day you'll be fine for months yet

You can move to milk in a cup, once he has accepted water for a while in one

Agree with forget. Just leave the cup of water where he can reach it and don't ask him or cajole.

We had some success with dd by giving her a doody cup with milk in while she was in the bath.

And have you tried straws?

My DD is nearly 10 months and still rubbish with a cup, cant say I'm worried, I just keep offering and I'm sure she'll get it eventually. Some babies just take longer to do different things than others.
