didnt know where else to post this, DS is 1 in two weeks and weighs 19lbs so is around 25th centile but is only 27'' in height so is below 5th centile, he was small when he was born because he stopped growing when I was pregnant, i have no.problem with his size hes lovely in every way but it gets on my nerves when people always point out how small he is! has anyone else had babies that caught up from being small? im only 5ft but his dads 6'2 so im hoping hell take after his dad as I got alot of stick for being short!

My DS was noticeably smaller than his peers when he started school but now at 10 he is taller than some of them and we're not tall.

What centiles was he on when he was born? Measuring babies and toddlers can be notoriously inaccurate but it would give you some indication if he is following a line on the charts Smile

he was born on the 0.4th centile in weight and now hes on the 25th so hes done good there, not sure about height though! & thats reassuring to hear that they can catch up I just dont want him getting picked on for being small in school like I was! x

Try not to worry too much about these centile lines, every child is an individual and will develop and grow at their own rate. I think health visitor's get too wrapped up in all that and forget to look at the overall picture. If he's happy and healthy then I wouldn't worry and I'm sure he'll catch up in his own time. I actually had the opposite problem - I'm really petite and my first DS was 9lb 3oz! I found it hard to get over the shock of his size and constantly had people commenting on how big he was which really upset me. However, once he turned one and started moving around he stretched out and slimmed down and now he's almost 3 and pretty skinny, although he eats like a horse! My second DS was 7lb 2oz and has really filled out now at 6 months old, but I was basically accused of overfeeding him because he went above his 50th centile at one point! I just take everything the GP and health visitor say with a pinch of salt. Trust your own instincts as a mum and enjoy your gorgeous boy.x
