8 month old feeding

Hi, what do you feed your 8 month old? My dd is waking up during the night and seems genuinely hungry. She's 8 months and eats three meals and is bf. Would you give her another meal before bed? If so, what would you give her? Is it okay for her to go to bed just after eating solids or does she need time to digest?

Have you tried fitting in another bf during the day instead? Smile

Yes I try to bf her as much as possible! But regardless of how much she bf she wakes up.

Waking up is pretty normal at 8 months no matter what you feed her. If you think your baby is hungry, I'd try to up the bfs in the day as it has many more calories than most things you can feed a baby Smile

Are you feeding from both breasts at each feed? Have you read No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley?

You might find Will feeding solids or formula help my baby sleep at night helpful too Smile

Thanks will give it a read. I don't want to give formula and yes, give both breasts. I don't mind feeding her at night if it's what she needs but wondered if I was depriving her.

Hi, my 8 month boy is exactly the same. 3 meals and 3 breast feeds but still wakes at night and genuinely seems to need a feed. My health visitor seems very good and she says some babies do just continue to wake. She did suggest adding a mid-morning snack so he doesn't get hungry during the day but that it may not stop the night wakings.

If you find a cure please come back and share Wink

3 bfs doesn't seem like an awful lot at 8 months Rosie. Have you tried getting another one in during the day?

ExpatAl · 08/05/2014 19:22

Wow, I bf way more than that. Probably double at least! She's much more active too so I guess she just needs more fuel.

He dropped them by himself. I keep offering in case but he's not interested. He feeds at 7.30, 3.00 and 7.30. (He dropped 11.30) With meals at 8.30, 12.30 and 5.30.

I've been told it's nothing to worry about as he must get all he needs on those occasions. Most people in my nct and other baby groups do 4 so I'm not concerned.

Thanks all Grin
