New to weaning - few questions please

Have just begun weaning my DD today (she is 4 days away from being 6 months). We gave her apple purée, a few spoonfuls, the majority of which she took and swallowed so a successful start I'd say :)

She even had a tiny bit of cucumber from our plate at lunchtime :)

What I wanted to know was whether it might be advisable in fact to introduce her to venerable a first (saving the sweet stuff for later). Would be good to get advice from your experiences on that.

I also wondered about quantities. I have no idea how much I 'should' b offering her.

Lastly, do u know how long puréed fruit lasts for in the fridge once taken out the freezer?

Thank you

I wouldn't keep it frozen more than a month, so don't make piles of everything! Give savoury and sweet each day, but avoid adding sugar to anything. My 2 weaned on Annabel Carmel recipes and no fussiness apart from puddings!

At this stage you don't have to be worried about quantities, as her main food will still be milk (whether bf or ff) and just let the solid food be in addition to what you normally give her. Most ends up on the floor for the first few weeks anyway. Let her play with it. Let her eat as much as she wants at first. She'll probably gradually end up eating more and more.

When you've taken stuff out th freezer you need to use it staright away. So it's best to freeze in small quantitites. You can get tiny pots for freezing things which are great.
