Hi My little chap is one next month on the 12th. I've put him on cow's milk for a week now but introduced a bottle a day by gradually weaning off his formula.Replacing formula for cow's milk a bottle at a time. He had been really tricky as an infant in tolerating formula and was on Omneo Comfort £7.49 a go! He seems to love cow's milk. He has a varied diet so I'm not fussing about the iron issues. My thoughts are that 11 months plus is ok but it really is up to you. I wonder why on that first birthday we get the green light to reduce sterilising, formula etc.. Not sure a few weeks can be sooo detrimental

i changed dd2 over to cows milk at 7 mths she was sick loads on form milk and seemed really angry baby i kept asking h/v she said she will stop being sick once walking i changed her over to cows milk and she has been such a happy baby since it seemed like she was in pain on form milk and is never sick now and she was 1 on the 17/8 you can get vit drops for them if worried i did give dd2 them for a while

There's another thread on this - should still be active so have a look on there. I'd link but I'm crap at that!!! Briefly we graduated our ds onto cows milk after he turned one so replaced an ounce a time over several months to get him used to it.

you dont have to boil it but if your lo is used to having warm formula they may take to cows milk better if it is warmed too.

Olihan · 27/08/2006 19:40

Get them used to it straight out of the fridge it's less hassle!!! I just heated it for less and less time when I was mixing cows and formula so by the time it was 100% cows, he was used to having it cold.

Depends on how picky your lo is though. Dd won't touch cold milk!!!

Ive been advised not to give cows milk as a drink untill 1year. And it has to be full fat. My ds is 1 on the 15th of sep so im just going to start on it then. I think its proberbly best to start her on cows milk when she turns one just so shes used to it it will be easier and proberbly cheeper for you that way.

lorna3586 · 28/08/2006 01:40

No need to boil the milk just give it to her as it is. If its too cold and she wont drink it then stick it in the microwave for 30sec just to take the chill off, i wouldn't bother giving it to her warm it's not really neccesary and will just be hassle for you plus wont be as refreshing. Thats just my oppinion anyway. Hope it helps.
