Annoyed (to put it politely) at the weaning info coming thru post at 3 1/2 months)

Not particularly interesting post but...

Just got back from hols, to find 2 babyfood companies sending me booklets & samples. And even then the first paragraph is the official 'wait until 6 months' blurb.
DD3 is not even 4 months yet and is nowhere near ready (even if she was I wouldn't be starting).

Looking forward to see what my HV (if one turns up to clinic) has to say tomorrow...

probably something alon gthe lines of...."well we know that is the official line bit of course you can't expect that your baby will be sleeping through by 4 months without the higher calorie value of and also he/she will be iron deficiant by 5 months and of course will develop flat head becaus of you rlack of interest in his/her general well being..."

Or is that being too cynical?

mine came round to do a weaning talk at 3.5months. i basically laughed, told her i didnt need one and we were following the WHO guidlines and planning on weaning at 6months.

I weaned at 4 months and found that the items I wasn't interested in went in the bin.

I think it all stems from those Bounty packs in hospital, fill a form in and they have you for life.

Well my answer will be "she is sleeping 10-12hrs, DTDs were fine weaned at 5 1/2 months before advice changed - so up yours..."
(although on bottles because of unfortunate circumstances at 3months).

I do emphasise IF a HV turns up - I don't have a named one at the mo & it depends whether neighbouring HVs have the time & are not doing development checks...

I do like getting the info & samples though - just not 2 1/2 months early...

Will they be sending her tampax in 5yrs?
