8 month old gone off cereal

It might be a phase as she has a cold but she's turned her nose up at porridge, weetabix and oatibix.

I've given her toast soldiers with marmite to chew on and some of it goes down.
Bananas get gummed and again some goes down.

She seems to possibly have a very slight intolerance for dairy so avoiding that and with cold not a good idea anyway.

Thought I might give har an avocado to gum in a bit.
Any suggestions for other breakfast stuff?

She seems happy enough when it comes to lunch and tea, it's just breakfast she doen't seem fussed on at the moment.
Drinking her milk ok though.

It's such a mum thing to want them to have something in their little tummies.
I just think she'll sleep better during her morning nap if she has a full tummy, and therefore wake up in a lovely mood and all that jazz.

Well the mashed up avocado and banana got a blank as well this morning.
Hmmmmm, think she's trying to tell me she just doesn't want to eat breakfast today.
Bless her.

mine used to love cereals when she was about your DD's age and then suddenly stopped eating cereals. she only had either her bottle or fruits and yoghurts but now she is 22m she just started to eat her cereal again

Try giving finger food instead for brekkie - ds often refuses food, but will then eat finger food. (the bugger)

How about some toast?

Thomcat · 21/08/2006 10:19

Yeah I do toast with her, think that's why she's gone off cereal, she prefers toast. I'll stick with toast and fruit and just keep offering cereal now and again. Not helped by her being a bit under the weather at the moment.

Thomcat - as long she is happy eating her toasts and fruits then i wouldnt worry about it...

JunkInMyTrunk · 21/08/2006 10:24

If my dd2 won't eat her brekkie I try to make up for it the rest of the day, and she will eat better if she has finger food.
Have you tried french toast? basically eggy bread with a bit of vanilla essence. always goes down well here if fed up of toast

Thomcat · 21/08/2006 10:27

Yeah, I know, you're right. Just getting half a weetabix down her is just good as you know she has quite a full tummy. And with toast and fruit most of it ends up all over her and the floor. But she seems happy enough so your right, I'll leave her to it.

Hi there Thomcat - my DS completely went off cereal a few weeks ago (he's now 11 mths) - he would literally gag on the weetabix when he previously couldn't get enough of it. He wouldn't eat any breakfast. But, he's now gone back to gobbling it up again - it seems to me that everything is just a phase!
