weaning/bf/sleep help please.

Hi, really hoping that someone can help. My 8m/o ebf co-sleeping ds1 is healthy and happy and I am continuing to follow his lead in all areas.

However, recently I have been failing to bf him during the day. I try with my breast but he just isn't interested. I've also tried expressing but can't get more than 4oz most of the time. The result of this is that he is waking anything from 3-6 times a night wanting fairly long feeds.

I don't mind feeding him at night but I had hoped that the days of one feed a night woukd last. Can I get them back? Tonight I have tried to fill him up with formula but he wasn't interested. He occasionally has a ff in the day if I leave him but not often at all.

Today has been a bad day and I feel as though ebfing is drawing to an end. I feel so guilty for thinking it but if I can't bf him or pump enough I don't know what the answer is. Can anyone help?

Have you tried feeding him in a darkened quiet room in the day to minimise distractions? (apologies if you've already done this)

Also, he could be teething and this is putting him off during the day.

Have a look on the Kellymom website as there is a lot of info there about nursing strikes and fussiness around feeding.

Thank you! We have really full, busy days so no I haven't tried that but I will- it's what I used to do when he was 4/5 months and he became aware.

I think he is teething- any tips? Calpol not doing much.

Could it just be that he is too distracted during the day? Since she was about 5 months old, I have had to feed dd (17 months) while lying down, in a darkened room. She would never feed while sitting on the sofa with me, or out and about as she simply wouldn't sit still long enough!

4oz is a perfectly respectable amount to express (far more than I get and the fact that he is feeding often at night means that your supply is still ok.

Think the ibuprofen calpol or equivalent is better for teething than the paracetamol - just my opinion not medical - but makes sense as anti inflammatory.
