NHS guidelines are to stick to plain fruit and veg before 6 months ie 26 weeks, so maybe hold off the toast for a 2 or 3 weeks. Afaik it's to do with no wheat before 6months, due to an increased risk of coeliac (sp?) disease and allergies.

I have weaned dd 23 weeks and they say not until six months. She has made many attempts at my bagel!
I am giving her plain veg and avocado, banana and papaya until them.
