Any good blw books?

I'm interested in blw for my dd so was wondering if there are any books that anyone would recommend? She is currently mix feeding and I understand that most if not all of the research is done with breastfed babies but I think that if I know more about it i would still be confident enough to try.

LaDiDaDi, I'm afraid at the last count there aren't any books out there yet, although I read somewhere that Gill Rapely (sp?) (the queen of BLW) was writing one, but don't know when it'll be published. The only one I've got is Finger Food for Babies and Toddlers by Jennie Maizels which gives some ideas for finger food, but it's not that great - a start though!

Aitch71 is doing a blog on blw which might help - I can't find the link atm, but I'm sure she'll be along shortly to tell you where it is.

Where did you get information about it from (other than mumsnet of course)? I'd be happy to just kind of try stuff but from about 8months my mum will be looking after her quite a bit and I think that I'd need to give her quite clear instructions/direction for her to feel confident.

Well, MN has been a great resource. There's some info on the ABM (Association of Breastfeeding Mothers) site which is a help. The main report I read is here . I know of others who've succeeded having been mixed or solely bottle feeding, so don't feel excluded.

There's also a BLW Yahoo group, but I've lost the link to that atm (was on my old machine which died); I'm sure that someone will come up with that too.

aaaah, ladidadi, you are speaking my language... mix feeding, no info... been there, done that.

the yahoo group is excellent and at this address

and of course there is my whizzy new improved blw blog at www.babyledweaning.com

i intend to write a bitter and twisted essay on the lack of info about weaning for ff mothers, Ladidahdi, so keep 'em peeled.

Thank you ladies for the BLW advice. Read up on it this afternoon and teatime was so unstressed!! DD even let me feed her food with my fingers! Good night, sleep tight.

BabyDragon is so unimpressed with this weaning lark. Give her an inflight magazine or a cardboard box and she'll chop away for England but anything edible? Naaa. As I posted elsewhere...

Infant Nurtition the BabyDragon Way:

Exculsively breastfed for 6 months
Lovingly hand fed small pieces of freshly picked Antiguan banana
Self fed whacking great handfuls of Caribbean sand washed down with seawater
Digested in-flight magazine and cardboard biscuit packet in a moment of boredom

I don't know why I bother.

the yahoo group is excellent, i'm sure you'll get a lot out of it. as for the blog, i've just been writing it while watching Big Brother, so i don't know what's going to happen as of next Friday...
