how long can you keep water?

my 8mo has a drink of water from a beaker with his meals, but once its been sipped, how long can you keep the water for? (I knowformula is an hour)

The rules are quite strict for formula as the powder can contain some quite deadly bugs. I've kept water for half a day. We used tap water from 6 months.

Have a peek inside if they are drinking alongside a meal or snack there are quite often lumps of food in there - especially the first few months.

Good point, if its an open cup they can be gross
