hey there, abit stuck for lunch and dinner idias, I have a million freezer pots so I make up batches for veg at the start of the month then freeze them, and give two a day. Im really stuck for idias though he usually just has mash and cheese or sweet potato with something but id like to freeze more interesting meals, I do Shepherds pie but the mince is impossible a bit hard to cut small enough, any idias would help thanks :) plus if you could add how long your able to freeze them for

Chicken liver casserole is really easy to cut up or puree.
Lamb casserole - use diced lamb rather than minced - it's not as stringy as chicken so is easier to cut up into tiny pieces.
Lentil, sweet potato, onion, garlic and carrot casserole - just mash the veg as much as your baby needs.
If your baby needs the meat to be in teeny tiny pieces you could cook the meat first then put it through a hand mincer on the smallest setting, as the bits will be much smaller than shop-bought uncooked mince.
Aubergine, chickpea and veg curry - you could peel the aubergine first if you think the skin might be a problem, then it will all mash down pretty easily.
Peppers, courgette, red onion, garlic and aubergine all sauteed until soft, then pureed - a nice alternative to tomato sauce.
I generally work to 1 month in the freezer for meat dishes, and 3 months for veg, but I don't know where I've got that from!

At 8 months mince should be fine as it is and Duane need to be cut up any smaller.

I did cheesy spinach pasta this week. Spinach (put in the blender once cooked) mixed with philedelphia cheese and those baby pasta stars. Looks vile but actually quite tasty.

Agree with Brugmansia that you don't need to cut up mince for an 8 month old. We never pureed and DS coped fine with strips of meat, homemade meatballs, clumps of mince etc at 6 months.

Brugmansia · 02/02/2014 04:32

Not sure what happened with that post. Duane = doesn't.

Anyway, as CornishYarg says, we never pureed either. By 8 months ds was ok with mince just as it is and other meat, fish and veg in biggish chunks to knaw on.

ahh well that helps alot as ive had many nightmares with trying to get mince into dust. ive just started giving him lumpier meals the past couple days so ill try the mince uncut, thanks ladies!
