Started weaning DS on Saturday at 24 weeks, using purée, so we are 6 days in and he has only had apple, banana and sweet potato so far.

First couple of days he didn't seem interested, but yesterday and today he has completely wolfed down the portion i gave him.

As he isn't officially supposed to have porridge or weetabix till 26 weeks, id imagined spending these first 2 weeks doing 1 purée per day, getting him used to it and trying different flavours, then adding breakfast at 26 weeks. Just to add i cant give him baby porridge as he has suspected cmpa so want to use the adult stuff straight away.

I'm wondering really whether i should up it to 2 purée's a day now, as he is doing so well and enjoying it, or wait till i can add in proper breakfast food? I also don't want yo go too fast and fill him up on fruit and veg and consequently displace his milk feeds.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I wouldn't up it yet. He's not supposed to be on 3 meals until he's between 8 and 9 months so there's no rush Smile

Thanks. Ive only just seen this though and we gave him some apple pure for tea in the end. He is really enjoying it so i think ill carry on. I'm only going to do 2 small portions per day though, not up the amounts just yet and will only introduce a new food every couple of days still.

I'm not going to do a third meal for a while though as I agree hr is still a bit too young and will establish breakfast and a bit more variety (meat, fish, eggs, lumps, finger foods) and bigger portions at these 2 meals first.

Its all very exciting this weaning lark.

P.s. Jilted John is one of my favorite songs ever!
