DS1 started at exactly 6 months. 3 days later, he could feed himself a whole banana. However, he was absolutely bloody starving. He had undiagnosed tongue tie and unknown to me, he had not been breastfeeding very efficiently.

DS2 started at exactly 6 months. 3 months later, he was still just eating little bits and pieces and milk was the main part of his diet.

They are all different!

I started at 6 months but he wasn't really interested until about 8/9m and that is quite common

Ds, immediately at 26 weeks
Dd, started at 26 weeks, took about 4 weeks

What do you start them with? Sorry to hijack OP. DS is 5 months and keeps trying to swipe food off me Confused

You can start with pretty much anything you like really. We went straight on to our meals and gave some bits from our roast dinner. Others prefer to start slowly with simple things like fruit and veg and work up from there.
