Veg refusing 20mo - give purees or not?

DS refuses all fruits and vegetables (except raisins) unless they are in a pureed meal. He picks it up and puts it back down often without trying. If he does try it gets spat back out. We have tried every fruit and vegetable known and no success. Resultantly I give him weetabix or porridge with pureed fruit for breakfast, a sandwich at lunch and a pureed meal at dinner so i know he is at least getting some fruit and vegetables. I also give him some finger foods of what we are eating at dinner. Would you persist with this or just swap to him having what we are having cut into small pieces?

Could you put things like chopped banana into his porridge or does he refuse that too? Will he eat a sandwich if you put cucumber on it? How is he with things that contain fruit and veg like stews, spag Bol, soups and crumbles? Would he eat jelly made with a tin of fruit cocktail and served with custard?
