Bottle to Cup advice

Connor now 3mths+ and I'm keen to move from bottle to cup. Using Avent bottles and notice they have soft spouts and trainer handles you can buy. Has anyone used these and are they any good or is it better to stick to cups for water then move to cups for milk once introducing solids?

Used tt free flow cup with dd from 3 months for water and ditched bottles at 6/7 months. Found Avent ones have valve which some dentists say is a bad thing.

Hi Jackie - we used the Avent one - and a similar one from Morrisons which has a longer 'spout'. We took the valve out of the Avent one so that it became a 'freeflow' type. Think it helped but DS still prefers his bottle for certain drinks (bedtime bottle & wake up bottle). He's nearly 9 months now.

Thanks folks. Will try him with the soft spouts for water for now then once he's used to them try his milk.

We went to a weaning talk and they had a dentist doin a talk and we were told the tommee tippee free flow one is better because they don't have to suck at all to get water which is better. We ended up with 2 of the cups as freebies from the talk. ds is almost 6 mth and after a couple of goes he can now hold it himself and drink from it.

We were told to start with just a tiny amount of water in because itll be a bit of a shock for them when they tip it up and get a mouthful. Then gradually increase it as they get used to it.
