6mth old with colitis-what foods for weaning?

my 7mth old has had salmonella for 3 months. he is now clear of it but the salmonella plus loads of strong antibiotics has destroyed his gut.he is also cmpi and is on neocate. he has what the drs call 'colitis'. ie mucous and diarrhoea almost all of the time plus alot of stomach ache. he really wants to eat but i am anxious. he is not interested in baby rice at all. apple puree was a disaster (he was up all night screaming). pear not much better. have tried avocado with baby rice and neocate today and am crossing fingers we have an ok night.
anyone know anything?

Banana?

Could you avoid fruit for a short while? Apple and pear can cause tummy ache.

If he's CMPI, how about a round of 50/50 toast with vitalite? Sweet potato wedges are a good first food too.

If you are just starting weaning, I'd just try one meal a day, or even every other day.
