Weaning recipes my wee one has loived so far, in case they're of use to anyone
Chicken & Vegetables (variation 1)
(all cut into quite small chunks)
1 chicken breast
1 bunch brocolli
1 sweet potato
1 carrot
1 white potato
1 apricot (for just a little sweetness)
Basically bung it all together in a pot with enough water to just cover it all. Put a lid on and simmer for about 25 minutes. When cooled a bit, puree. Makes about 12 baby sized portions for freezing and Lola loves it.
Chicken & Vegetables (variation 2)
(all cut into quite small chunks)
1 chicken breast
1 savoy cabbage
1 swede
1 carrot
1 white potato
1 apricot
Cook and puree as in variation 1
Fishermans Pie
2 small salmon fillets (other fish if preferred but I wanted to get her used to the taste of an oily fish early on)
tbspn olive oil
half a cup of frozen peas
half a cup of sweeetcorn
small onion chopped finely
3 cloves of garlic crushed
3 tbspns creme fraiche thinned out with a few tbspns milk
4 large-ish white potatoes (boiled and mashed with a little milk and some grated cheese if u like)
cook peas and sweetcorn for a few minutes in microwave
saute off salmon (cut quite small) and onion and garlic in olive oil
when salmon cooked and onion softened add peas and sweetcorn and thinned creme fraiche
simmer for a couple of minutes before cooling and pureeing
When pureed add to mashed potato and stir in well, then divide into portions for freezing - makes about 6 good baby sized portions (well I guess that depends on your wee one's appetite!)
