Baby vomiting with finger foods.

I thought i'd try out some finger foods with DS2 (6mo) as everyone seems to rave about blw.

For the past 3 days i tried him with cooked carrot and banana but each time he's massively gagged and then been very sick. I'm talking, whatever was left in his tummy from the last feed, kind of sick. He really didn't look like he was enjoying himself and getting very frustrated with it.

I really want to give up and start him on purees, but i just wanted to check that this isn't a normal part of blw. TBH, the whole experience has been really unpleasant and i'm worried it'll put him off.

Not had any vomiting. Have you tried them again?

I've been weaning DD since she was 5.5 months, she's now 10.5 months. I did purées and finger food (mostly purée) she was the same and projectile vomited alot! she's better now but still gags on some lumps. Maybe do purées and offer finger foods occasionally?

We had that a few times at the start but it hasn't happened since. However it didn't bother DD at all and I can see it would have been more upsetting if it had. BLW is great for us so persevering might be worth it but it's not for everyone Smile

I tried purees with DS on Monday and today as i gave him cooked broccoli on monday and we had another massive vom :(
He loooved the puree! Such a big difference. No more finger foods for him for a while yet i think.
Thanks!
