Slow eater!

Does anyone have the same problem as me?
My dd who is 10 months old is SOOOOO slow at eating! She's getting the hang of self feeding but it doesn't always go to plan - on the floor/to the dog
She has a variety of food - finger food and spoon fed however she takes ages eating it. Last night I started feeding her at 5.30 and finished at 7.30!! She has no teeth so I don't know of that's not helping the situation! And she seems to get bored mid way which slows her down and she then keeps it all in her mouth.
Please help! It's really getting me down because all I do with my days is feed her!

2 hours does seem excessive, especially if she's bored. Surely one mealtime is just blurting into another?

I'd pack everything away after about 20 to 39 minutes and offer so thing else later if she still seems hungry

Am with jilted on this. I think they reach a sort of saturation point where there's little point carrying on. I find if it's going to go in, it will have done so in the first 30-40 mins (I have a toddler too so need to add in extra time for dealing with him!). I let them both have a good go at their main for 15-20 mins or so and then when things have slowed I take it away & move on to fruit or yogurt. The change seems to cause them to pick up the pace again! The focus is more on eating as much as they want, rather than waiting for them to finish everything put in front of them.

my dd is a slow eater and always has been loses interest after 20 mins and is hard work to get to sit still for any longer once her interest has gone.
I've just come to the decision that she is a natural grazer so she gets four meals a day. breakfast at 7ish, lunch at 11ish, then nap and the rest of lunch about 30 mins after she wakes followed by dinner anytime between 5-6 depending on how late her 2nd dinner was.
She's 2.8 at the moment and I've had some comments re she wont be able to do that at school but it works for now so I'm happy to go with it.

She copes with school fine. They have a snack at 10 and when they first start our school, lunch is at 11.45, then there is fruit at around 2ish. We give the DC a snack around 3.30 and tea at 5. She has coped with the transition fine. Think that by the time they start school they are usually quick to work out that if they don't eat their lunch with everyone else, they go hungry.
