14 m.o will not eat :(

Having issues with Teddy, 14 m.o. and refusing food. Has never been a great eater but the past couple of months are worrying me. If he refused food before would always fill up on yoghurts but now wont even eat them. Will NOT be spoon fed anymore, and if i give him food to feed himself he has around 5 mouthfuls and throws it on the floor. The only milk he has is naptime (early afternoon) and bedtime. He still fits in 9/12 clothes with ease, looking for ideas and a little support :(

What do you do if he refuses food Pasha and what are you doing when he throws the food on the floor? Also, which milk is he on and how much does he have each day?

While a lot of what you say could be normal baby behaviour, it might be worth getting him checked for tongue tie and upper lip tie.

Once you've done that, I'd book in to see your GP. Take the red book. Ask for DS to be weighed and measured and have it recorded in the book and ask for a referral to a Paed. Could an allergy or intolerance be a possibility? Children with CMPI are often small...

If he refuses I offer fruit. When it's thrown on the floor I leave it for ten minutes and he stays in his chair, if he looks like he wants it picking up i offer more of the same.
He's on cows milk now, 6oz at nap time then usually 9/15oz at bedtime (and water through the night).

We're at the Drs this week as I finally have a week off work! Not sure about allery/intolerance as I have a very varied diet and he gets what I get. Never have any nappy-related incidents to suggest that either. Bah!

I'd stop offering alternatives altogether, just assume that if he's not eating he's not hungry and leave him. Know exactly how hard that is though as I have a tiny food food refuser too. Mine is 6 now but is getting much better and is catching up in height.

I'd also cut right back on the milk. The NHS recommend about 10.5 floz of full fat cows milk a day between 12 and 24 months. Your Lo is having double that and it could be acting as an appetite suppressant.

Ahh I knew the cut down on milk thing was coming! Breaks my heart to see him crying his eyes out for it!

Could you give him a cup of milk after he's eaten?

You say you're off work this week - does that mean your DS is usually at nursery/CMs? If so - how does he eat for them? Is there a difference between the type of food you're giving him, or when etc?
