Fussy 10 month old eater

So here's the deal... I have a toothless 10month old dd who is very fussy at mealtimes.
She's great with lumps and occasionally gags, she eats everything I give her. However it takes about an hour for her to eat, maybe more. She tends to keep the food in her mouth and keeps chewing. I feed her mostly bite sized portions. She can feed herself however this goes everywhere! I need to know she's actually eating something and it not going to the dog.
This eve I made some yummy (if I say so myself) Parmesan, Turkey and squash meatballs with roasted sweet pot all cut up into tiny pieces and she had 4 small tsp mouthfuls which took her forever!! She gets bored, I get bored, food turns VERY cold!! I try and keep her amused whilst trying to eat my dinner also.
Has anyone else been in this situation and how did you overcome it and what meals did you make?
Is it because she has no teeth? She doesn't wake up in the night so she isn't starving!!
I am planning on going bk to work soon so don't want to burden my babysitter with this :(
Thanks

Have you been doing purees, or has she been feeding herself all along?

I've got an 11mo DD and have posted on a few weaning threads recently, I think if you're getting no joy with their eating you need to relax and take a step back. Ime the more prep time, the more stressed you get if they don't eat it! if she's getting bored too, you're rapidly going to make mealtimes something you both dread.

What does she like eating? use that as the basis of the foods you choose, in a way. eg my DD loves picking up blueberries and pea Hmm. So now I feed her loads of beans Grin

Hang on, I'll find the other thread for you
