Confused about cow's milk

Hello. My baby is 25 weeks and we are starting to think about weaning. I'm a little confused about the advice on cow's milk. I understand that it is not to be given as a drink until 12 months but many recipes I've looked at suggest cheese, yogurt and even porridge with whole cow's milk. Why is this if baby isn't allowed to drink it? I assumed it was the lactose but perhaps it is not. Any advice on where to look to understand the guidelines? Or any advice in general? Thanks in advance!

Babies need the extra stuff from formula or breast milk till they're one. If they drink cows milk they'd drink less bm or formula

Thanks PinkPepper It's just that simple then! I must have been overthinking it!

Yep its that simple, fine in cooking, just not to be given as a main drink. The advice is just there to alert people who don't bf or give formula, just cows milk that they may be doing something wrong. A little cows milk on cereal, in Yorkshire pud, rice pudding, fish pie etc is fine Smile
