DD coughing fit and choking

Dd is almost 9 months, she has had a virus for almost a week now, high temp, cold and nasty cough. She has eaten hardly any sold food and just had milk - fine. She is feeling a little better today so offered her some toast for lunch, she enthusiastically ate some but then had a coughing fit and started choking. Proper choking -silent, red faced, terrified eyes- not gagging, i put her over mtg knee and banged her on her back and a big bit of toast flew out. She cried really hard Sad I am quite sure the coughing fit caused her to choke, we did BLW and she is normally quite good.

Shall i avoid solids whilst she has this nasty cough? Any foods you recommend to avoid? I am normally quite relaxed about gagging but this has frightened me.

Oh dear that must have been terrifying for you both :( Maybe stick to softer, easy-to-mush foods until she's over the worst of the cough? My DD has a bit of a cough at the moment and I'm going to spoon feed her some soup for dinner as I fear she might choke, too. I'm not a strict BLWer though and often spoon feed her a yoghurt if she fancies it...

Thanks for the reply. I am making DS a tomato sauce to have with pasta, maybe I'll just give her some of sauce on a spoon.
