Basic Tommee tippee. I wouldn't recommend anything with a valve. Be patient while he is learning to drink from it as it will just take a little getting used to it.

Doidy cup.

We were advised not to get one with a valve as they learn to sip properly from a free flow one. We have the basics boots ones. It does mean dd sits down properly to have a drink rather than wandering round with her beaker as her friends do.

Oh, we have a doidy too, like stargirl. Even more supervision required but good for learning to use a cup.

Yy Tommee Tippee my first cup. DS is almost 2 and still uses them, we've used them from 6 months or so. I've bought at least 5 other cups / beakers / sports bottles (which are fine but hard to get properly clean) and keep coming back to them. A bit babyish now he's big, but hey ho

And give him it at mealtimes in high chair with the lid off and he'll very quickly learn to drink that way too. No need for doidy cup IMO - it's not like you'll leave him with it, it still needs supervision, so just skip straight to drinking from an open cup at mealtimes.

Drinking from open Tommee Tippee cup since 6mo btw (with help holding it for a good few months), and now drinks babyccinos from espresso cups like an old Italian man Grin

Basic Tommee Tippee - www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/first-cup/

I tried loads and this was the only one that worked for both my DCs

Both went straight from breast to cup.

DS was 14 months and DD took to it more quickly at 9 months.
