BLW - how do i minimise clothing carnage when eating out??

At home I usually just leave DS in his vest or with cheapie trackies on as well. I put a towel in his lap to help catch the fall out. Still, it's a messy business but I'm ok with it.

However i find it a bit tricky when out as a change of clothes isn't always practical. Today, for example, my DS ended up with red stained cuffs from his tomato slices. And it was a white top too (yes I suppose i am an idiot to let him wear white whilst eating!)

I'm just wondering what everyone else does for damage limitation when out & about?

I carry one of these in my bag if I know we are eating out www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_206439_10001 and occasionally double up on t-shirts so if one gets messy I can swap. Also plan the food. We did BLW but I learnt what is v messy compared to just slightly messy IYKWIM.

So banana good, hard cheese, little sandwiches etc, cream cheese - no no no

Full sleeve bibs, muslin wrapped around their lap. IKEA have cheap full bibs but I have so,e great bibetta ones which are made of a sort of neoprene material Which absorb liquid really well. Agree that you need to pick your food carefully!
