Ds suddenly not interested in food

Started Ds on baby rice a couple of weeks ago, he was having it once a day and bloody loved it! Gobbled every last bit down, this only lasted a few days then he became uninterested. We have tried him on different things, baby porridge, blended veg plus some of the sweeter 'plum' pouches but he is not interested in anything. At the start with the baby rice he was opening his mouth really wide ready for the next mouthful but now he just sits there with his mouth shut.

I'm wondering whether we have bombarded him with too many flavours at once? He's still taking his bottle fine.

I suspect he is also teething so not sure if this is having an impact.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm worried he's going to keep doing this!

He's 6 months btw

Try BLW. Then he is in control

To be honest the other thing I've noticed is that he tries to grab the spoon off me, on the couple of occasions I've given it to him he's managed to put it in his mouth but he puts it too far in and ends up gagging!

They learn not to do that and there is a difference between gagging and choking. It sounds similar to how I feed my DD yogurt. Load the spoon and hand it to her and she feeds herself. Never put any food in her mouth

I had exactly the same response from my 2nd DS when he started weaning. He ate baby rice for 2 weeks and then stopped. For the first few days I just thought he needed some milk days and then it turned into 2 weeks and I really worried that he wouldn't go back to solid food. But he did eventually! Compared to his elder brother he took his weaning slowly and after the initial long milk break, he did get into it. For the first few months of weaning he still had his milk days but would go back to solid food when he was ready. It was not until he was 8 months that he would he had some sort of solid food routine and would seem to want his lunch and dinner time solid food.

He was also teething a lot like your baby when I started weaning would grab the spoon to ease the pain in his gums. I was relieved when his first tooth finally appeared at 9.5 months!

I just had to make myself be patient (so difficult!!) and eventually he got there.....
