At 8 months she needs about 20oz of formula a day, so not sure how the HV would get that in one bottle!

3 meals and 4 bottles sounds absolutely fine to me, don't know what your HV's problem is. Has your DD jumped the centiles at all?

Ra88 · 22/08/2013 12:27

if that's what she wants then give it to her , maybe offer her Half the 1pm amount and gradually reduce as she gets older

bamboobutton · 22/08/2013 12:27

sounds about right to me, im pretty sure that was my feeding routine with my 2 children.

1 bottle of milk a day?Hmm

if I can remember correctly my youngest was still having 3 or 4 bottles a day at over a year old.
I think I read somewhere that a pint of milk a day was recommended?

hettienne · 22/08/2013 12:29

Yes, it's a minimum 17-21oz (500-600ml), depending on the baby, until 12 months so they get enough vitamins and nutrients. After 12 months you can reduce to 12oz (350ml) of cow's milk or formula.

Milk should still be their main source of nutrition till they're one, so not sure what your hv's problem is really.

Thought so thanks girls :)

I'm sure that's what I was doing with ds.

beckslovestimmy · 22/08/2013 19:41

DD is 7.5 months and has 3x 6oz bottles and 1x 8oz bottle + 3x solid meals a day. Her weight continues to follow her centile line. I try not to see the HV if possible. I know my baby is fine and healthy. You know your baby best. Ignore the HVSmile

IsThatTrue · 22/08/2013 19:44

Seeing your hv isn't compulsory [ wink], just saying :)

I agree actually, imagine of someone took her at her word!

ihearsounds · 25/08/2013 14:22

Pull her up on it. Ask her to show you official documentation that states one bottle a day, rather than a pint a day. If under a pint a day then vitamins are needed. Did she suggest this?
I also agree report her. If she is giving this advice to you, what else is she telling others.
