I know they say not too wean till 6 months but at what age did you wean and if you weaned early has it caused any health problems in your child?

DD2 is only 14 weeks and people (my mum) are already telling me to wean her and how it never did us any harm etc, etc..

So just a poll to see who weaned early and who held off to 6 months?

I'm interested in this thread! Anyone left it a lot later than 6 months?

I started both dd's at around 5.5mths. dd2 will be 7mths old next week and only in the last couple of weeks has she been having 3 meals a day, but she is dictating the pace as she is a slow eater at each meal and if she has too much or is too active immediately afterwards it all comes up
She seems to enjoy foods that she can hold, so rusks, rice cakes and toast are popular, but also loves her mushed up fruit, as long as she doesn't grab hold of the spoon and wave it around
I don't know if these are sold in the UK, but they are in the US and South Africa (where mine came from). you put fruit or veg in there and they can eat it through the netting without the worry of choking or the mess. It's fantastic and dd2 loves it, wish I'd known about it when dd1 was a baby.

DS started at 20 weeks with no problems. He's 8.5 months now and loves his grub

5.5 months (he was 2 weeks overdue so I reckon he was 6 months really!!). He was sooo ready for food and hasn't looked back. DS now 14 months and still eating us out of house and home

Sort of started offering a bit of puree at 23/24 weeks (can't quite remember) but she wasn't interested so started weaning for real when she was about 6 1/2 months. She's only really been eating properly since about 8 months and she's still really bad with lumps and won't touch finger food so all these people who say 'wait til 6 months and you can skip the purees stage' are having a larf if you ask me.

Hi weaned my first son at 6 months and my 2nd son who is now 5 1/2 months i am thinking of delaying it further. Both my brother and i were weaned very early he has coeliac disease and i have crohns i don t wish those on my two. Why take the risk?
