Dried apricots have loads and babies love them. Lentils. Red meat. Lentils make a good soup and can be thrown into a stew, or cooked down to a mush with onion and garlic. Lovely topped with mashed potato. Dunno what to do with meat I'm afraid coz I'm veggie.

Quinoa - lovely in (v thick) veggie soup, has omega acids too. Leafy greens.

mmm.. I have utterly horrifying memories of my mum trying to make me and my brothers eat liver and bacon and us trying to 'hide' it in tissues under the table!

I don't know if you are breastfeeding, shoobaloo, but I know that a lot of breastfeeding mums are frightened into worrying about iron by their health visitors around this age. Contrary to what you may have been told, breastmilk has plenty of iron in and is perfectly absorbed by your baby. The reason that formula has so much more iron in it is because it is a lot harder for the body to absorb iron from other sources.

An easy way to maximise iron absorption is to serve the food with a small glass of orange juice - the calcium aids the body in it's iron uptake.
