cows milk at almost nine months?

Is it a problem?
My dd has cows milk on her breakfast (weatabix etc) and drinks it fine. However, she has seemed to have "gone off" formula milk. She eats and drinks water really well, so is there a problem if we give her cows milk at almost nine months?
I know with my ds (who is 2), the guidelines where 12months, and thats what we waited to.
Is it ok?
TIA

ds3 went onto cows milk at 10 months because he was fussing over formula so much.

Thats the problem we have with dd, since having cows milk, she just wont have formula!!

it was probably a bit earlier than 10 actually....

my ds was on cows milk at 10mths too, he much prefers it to formula. if there are no dairy allergies in the family, its fine, no need to wait til 12mths imo

Someone is bound to shoot me down but I don't think there is any problem with this unless your LO is allergenic. Old advice (yeah I know) was cows milk after 6 months and does vary around the world. The issue is the lack of iron and that it is not suitable as a main drink (ie source of nutrition). However if you are either also bf or she is eating a wide variety of foods (containing iron) then she should be fine.

Thanks for all the advice.
My dd wont drink formula today at all, so offered her cows milk and she drank it all really quickly!

Ds started having the occasional drink of cow's milk at about that age - like you, I reasoned, hey, he has it on cornflakes, it's not actually poisonous! He was also having morning & evening bf though.

Only problem was that when he was at CM he began rejecting formula, so we ended up mixing formula & cow's milk 50-50 - then switched with relief to 'neat' cow's milk when he was 12 months.

He's now a strapping nearly 2 year old, so certainly doesn't seem to have done any harm.

the guidelines used to say it was 6 months. it's only cos of allergies they changed it to 12 months but if no history of that then you'll be fine. look
