Is this a phase?

We've been doing blw with DS since six months which was going well.

At 7 months, tried him with a spoon (for yoghurt/weetabix etc) but he refused and preferred to feed himself. This lasted about a week.

Now at 8 months, it's gone the other way. I'll put the food on his tray, he'll play with/try one piece, then not be interested in the rest. If I try to offer the food, hoping he'll take it in his hand, he opens his mouth and sits there until I put it to his mouth. Then, he won't bite/chew on it, he'll suck a bit then spit it all out.

However, if I spoon feed it or put small bits in his mouth he'll eat loads!!

Will he overcome this and start feeding himself again or is there something I can do to encourage him?

I'd carry on with his milk feeds and keep offering finger foods but I think he's giving you a clear message, he's too idle to do it himself and wants you to do it Grin
