How essential is water during BLW?

DD is doing well and enjoying toast & banana, baked apple wedges etc but will not drink water out of a sippy or doidy cup. I BF her before and after meals but I've noticed she seems to be a bit constipated and am worried I should maybe be persisting more with the water?

All you can do is offer the water. Don't worry if she isn't drinking as she seems to be getting plenty of fluid from you. If she is constipated I would cut down on the amount of banana, toast and baked apple as all of these can be bung things up. Try her with some strawberries, a nectarine, plum or pear.

Also, you don't say how old she is or how often she is having solids.

Sorry! She's only 6.5 month so just starting out. Thanks for the advice re alternative foods.

I'd offer food once a day then at the moment, twice as an absolute maximum. The current advice is not to give 3 meals until they are 9 months. Her gut could still be a little immature.

That's really helpful, thanks. Had been offering 2 so I will cut back.
