Peanut butter is ok from six months. But if there is a family history of asthma eczema or allergies then its best to wait.

It probably would be best to wait a bit. Maybe seek advice from hv or dr first. I waited to about 18 months with dd1 due to family history. She is also asthmatic although diagnosed after we had tried her.

Dd2 well she just stole dd1s toast so she had it pretty early Blush

Ideas on this do change though so wouldn't hurt to ask your HV (provided they are any good)

Oh I'd been told the opposite, that if there were allergies in the family it was best to try them with it sooner rather than later.

I've never heard that you should delay peanuts due to asthma or eczema, only if there is a family history of peanut allergies.

There isn't any evidence that delaying peanuts reduces allergies, and there is some evidence that early introduction prevents allergies.

I think the issue with delaying if there is a family history of peanut allergy is that a 1 year old will be better able to recover from an allergic reaction than a 6 month old.

Personally, unless you have reason to believe your baby might have an allergy, I would introduce it from 6 months.
