Weaning a 4 1/2 month old?

Hi all, LO has been waking up 3am-4am in the morning for the last 3 days. He has 5-6 bottles at 7oz (sometimes the odd 8oz) a day and normally finishes them all. We do a last 'dream' feed at 9.45pm and he has been sleeping through until 6am-7am for the last 5 weeks with this routine. He watches us intensely when we eat, should I keep an eye on him for another few days or should I start him on some baby rice asap?
Look forward to hearing what you think :)

Watching you eat and waking once in the night are not signs that babies are ready for weaning. The waking at night might be a growth spurt so I would give more milk if he seems hungry when he wakes.

Here's a link to the NHS advice on the signs of readiness for weaning.

Sounds like the 16 week sleep regression, rather than readiness for weaning.

Neither are a sign of needing to be weaned. Night waking could be a growth spurt (give more milk) or sleep regression.

Watching you eat is just a normal part of a baby's development - they're curious and fascinated.

Wait til 6 months if these are the only signs you're getting.

No you baby is not ready. And I would avoid baby rice as it has no real nutritional value
