Did BLW with DC1. It was very successful and at nearly 3 she is a good eater. DC2 is now six months but is not sitting up as she seems to prefer to try.and crawl. When you put her on lap, highchair, bumbo etc she just leans forward and Im worried about choking. She enjoyed a bit of pasta earlier but had to push her back all.the times. Anyone got any.ideas??[grin]

Don't start yet, its really important that they sit straight first - a couple more weeks wont hurt and baby will probably be sitting straight by then.

I agree with Nightfall. Give a her a few bits and pieces to play with if she wants but wait till she's sitting properly for getting her into food properly.
I started at 6 months with DS but he wasn't interested so waited till 7 and a half months to try again. He really took off at 8/9 months and is a great eater now (21 months)

My other child couldnt sit either at six months but she never slumped. What about some loaded spoons?

I should add I am reluctant to.step away entirely as she really seemed v keen today. Perhaps from.watching her sibling?

I wouldn't do it yet if she's not sitting. Sorry, I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear, but at least just think of the nice easy nappies for a little bit longer. Grin

Fwiw, my son seemed v eager for food from when he turned 4mo - constantly grabbing at mine etc - I don't think that's such a strong indicator of readiness as sitting unsupported is.

Thanks for comments. When's the latest I can start?

There is no latest, she's not ready till she can sit upright (doesn't have to be unaided, even if she can't sit upaided but can sit up straight on your lap or in a highchair that's ok) - even if that's 9 months old. If she wasn't sitting straight by 9 months ish then I'd be asking the HV to help...

Nightfall1983 · 25/07/2013 15:33

(Sure that won't happen BTW, not sitting at 6 months isn't unusual)

wouldyoupleasemove · 25/07/2013 19:16

Was fully about to stop...but she obviously likes food as she sat unaided for about ten seconds earlier and is sitting much better in the high chair! Fingers crossed
