Just veg and fruit purees until 6 months and then start thinking about introducing meat and fish. It's also that time that you can start cooking with cows milk but formula or breastmilk remains their drinking milk (badly worded but I'm sure you know what I mean!!) Hope this helps, just been through it myself and had to get the books out!!!

Do be cautious - rusks and porridge may contain gluten which isn't recommended before 6 months but such products may still be marketed as suitable from earlier. Start with basic root veg then introduce the rest, one at a time, from around 6 months with perhaps chicken first. Cows milk can be used in food from 6 months but not recomemended as a proerp drink before a year.

If you've just started weaning, I suggest baby rice once a day, for 3 days, if no reaction, then add some apple for 3 days, then pear for 3 days, then mix the apple & rice etc, then go for root veg, as advised by LIZS

Rusks (imho) are awful things - not pure enough & porridge is a little harsh for a first food.

Rusks contain a lot of sugar. Porridge contains gluten, I would just go for the rice, veg & fruit at this stage. If there's a family history of asthma or hayfever or any other allergies you may want to think about leaving out the gluten for another month or so.

anything except for gluten, eggs, shellfish, nuts, honey can be given from 4 months. fruit, veg, meat, fish, fruit can all be introduced from 4 months.

I was just wondering, I know that if there is a history of allergies that they do not recommend that you introduce the 'deadly nightshade' group until 9 months, i.e tom's, potatoes, peppers, but do you know if this includes Sweet potatoes? Sorry if I am being really stupid. DS is 22 weeks and jsut having babyrice mixed with breast milk at the moment, and I just want to be careful what I introduce, as lots of allergies in my family!
