My daughter is 6 months old and in introducing different goods. She has just started to have small pasta shapes and was wondering if she can also eat rice? But was confused as to which type she can eat basmati? Wholegrain? Help please . .

She can eat it all. Basmati is good because it's sticky enough to pick up in clumps. Arborio is good for risottos - another sticky alternative.

Brown rice probably has too much fibre

Does that mean you aren't supposed to give brown bread either?

Those recommendations about limiting whole grains and whole meals are because small children can fill up on them and then won't be hungry enough to eat other foods and may not get a rounded enough diet as a result.

They can have some just not loads.
