Water? Baby rice? Allergy to formula?

Have been weaning DS6mths for a couple of weeks now - he has always been EBF.

Should I offer him water from a dippy after he's eaten?

Also are there alternatives to baby rice? He hates it and it makes around his mouth red afterwards, I make it with formula so I wonder if he is allergic?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks xx

Not sure about whether your ds has an allergy to rice, but as he is 6 months you can give him anything else you like apart from honey (botulism risk) or whole nuts (choking hazard).

I gave my ds porridge (made with cows milk) from 6 months - at the beginning I blended the oats first in a blender to make the porridge smoother. I also made semolina and gave that for breakfast.

The rash could just be a contact rash from the extra saliva that would be around his mouth due to eating. I would check with a GP just to be on the safe side.
