Today is day 4. He was EBF and now he's a week and a half into weaning, fruit purée once a day. Should I worry? He doesn't seem uncomfortable. Lots of wee, quite a few smelly farts (sorry for that lovely detail). Seems like he's 'straining' to go sometimes but nada.

Mine just had ready brek mixed with fruit and cows milk but then I wasn't any good at expressing.

Hi rootypig, I definitely wouldn't worry too much as 7 months is still young. At that age, DS might very occasionally take a sip of water if I held the cup to his mouth, but usually it either ran straight back out his mouth again or he spouted it out like a fountain. And he never attempted to drink from it himself. It will come but it takes time.

With the constipation, it's hard to identify whether the cause is the food eaten, lack of fluids or a bit of both. As long as she is producing wet nappies then at least you know she isn't dehydrated.

Ha, her nappies are SO wet. She loves milk so much, she's like a firehose! Grin

Soaks through a pampers baby dry for her size in 5 hours (at night).

Thanks for the reassurance, it's helping me remind myself just to stay relaxed. I don't want food or water to become an issue in her mind whatsoever. So we're going back to a 'play' mentality - just giving her lots of tastes and textures and colours to experiment with smushing and gumming.

Sounds like a good plan Smile
